Credit Card Debt
Are you simply making the minimum credit card payment each month, and
sinking further ands further into credit card debt? If you are, you are
not alone. Millions of Americans are trapped in the endless cycle of
growing credit card debt, with no end in site. It is worse than simply
being broke; broke would mean you have nothing. With respect to credit
card debt, having nothing is not too bad. But with credit card debt, you
can be years, or even decades away from just being broke. It.s all that
interest that will kill your pocket book. Miss a payment and it gets even
worse. All of a sudden, those low interest rates you started out with
skyrocket to the highest interest allowed by law. It can happen fast and
can take forever to pay off.
What can you do? Well the obvious first answer is spending within your
means. If you can afford it by paying cash, or saving up, then maybe you
just can.t afford it in the first place. Use common sense, and realize
that using a credit card is just delaying the inevitable. Someday all
those purchases will have to be paid for, one way or another. The best way
to avoid credit card debt is to avoid building up debt in the first place
If you already have credit card debt, the first step is to keep it from
getting any worse. Stop using the card to keep from building any further
debt. Get your spending under control first and then confront the credit
card debt you have incurred. Never, (repeat) NEVER, ever miss a minimum
payment. Once you miss a payment, things go from bad to worse, so that
missing a payment should be avoided at all cost. If you know you can.t
make a payment, or a payment is going to be late, call the credit card
company. There is no use hiding your head in the sand or praying that the
debt will go away on it.s own. Believe it or not, most credit card
companies will work with you as long as you keep them in the loop and let
them know what.s going on in advance. Hiding from the credit card debt or
denying it never works.
If your credit card debt seems hopeless, try getting some help. Debt
consolidation can be a viable option. But the most important thing is to
recognize the problem and confront your credit card debt. Resolving your
credit card debt can be your start to reaching financial freedom.
